The American Society of Notaries is the first national nonprofit association for notaries public in the United States. Established in 1965, the American Society of Notaries is foremost in notary education, technical support and notary supply for the notary in America. Links on this web site will take you to our main site, www.ASNNotary.org.

Performing the duties of a notary public can be a much more complex undertaking than many notary applicants imagine. No one should become a notary public without first taking either an online notary training course or attending a live classroom environment notary education course.

Even veteran notaries should occasionally brush up their skills with a quality notary education course.

American Society of Notaries offers state-specific notary training courses for those seeking to become a notary in Florida, Missouri, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. These states require all NEW notary applicants to take a "State Approved" notary education course either online or in a live classroom environment. ASN also offers an online Texas notary training course (this course is NOT required in order to obtain a notary commission in Texas).

If your state does not require education nor an exam to become a notary, (see education and exam requirements in the right-hand column), ASN offers our All-States Notary Education Course. This course provides pertinent information for notaries in the states that are NOT listed in the right-hand column, and features state-specific information on notary essentials such as authorized duties, recordbook (also called a journal) requirements, notary bond requirements, and more.

Notary education is vital for any notary public to have full knowledge of what he or she is permitted to do as a notary and how to properly perform these duties.
